Head coach Enze Postecoglou has commented on the availability of Son Heung-min.

Tottenham Hotspur will face Fulham in the ninth round of the 2023-24 Premier League (PL) season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on April 24 at 4 p.m. ET. Tottenham currently sits in fourth place in the league with an unbeaten record of six wins and two draws.

During the A-match, Son was called up for two friendlies in South Korea. So far, Son has started all eight rounds of the league, scoring six goals. However, he did not play the full game in most of them. He came on as a substitute in the 25th and 32nd minutes against Liverpool and Luton, respectively.

In the aftermath of his last sports hernia surgery, Son was dealing with a groin injury. During the early stages of his call-up, he was mainly focused on recovery training, which led to concerns about his poor form, but he pushed on. He was rested against Tunisia, but played the full game against Vietnam, scoring a goal and providing an assist.

He was seen suffering from the injury in the middle of the game, but Son was unperturbed. In an interview, he said, "Injuries are an inevitable part of being a soccer player. I thought a lot about whether or not to play today. But I couldn"t allow myself to not play in front of the Korean fans," he said.

When asked about Son Heung-min"s fitness ahead of the upcoming game against Fulham, Postecoglou said: "If he"s still scoring goals, I don"t care about him. He doesn"t need to train, he doesn"t need to do anything. He scored six goals this season and he scored a goal for South Korea on the weekend. He got to where he is because of that, so I wouldn"t change anything," he said.

 

"I think it"s commendable that he takes the responsibility of representing his country very seriously. There are players who have gone down different paths for fame and fortune and have lost their way. But Son Heung-min still knows what"s important to him. He is taking good care of his body here. He knows his body, and he will continue to play at the highest level," he said, adding that he would not discourage Son from taking on the responsibility of competing.
